What your Charger needs for UK roads

The build date, specification and any modifications matter. Send us the details before you buy so we can confirm the work for your vehicle.

Read the approval guide

Approval
IVA for newer cars, MOT for older ones, done on site
Lighting
Headlights, indicators, rear fog lamp and side repeaters, as the car needs
Older vehicles
Age-related exemptions depend on the individual vehicle. Check your vehicle's year before relying on an exemption.

What to check before you buy

  • The title and the build date

DVLA wants the original US registration certificate to show when the car was made, and keeps it. The 10-year and 40-year tests run on the individual car, so take the build date from the title rather than the advert.

  • A clean title

We import clean-title vehicles only. A salvage or rebuilt brand on the title is a reason to walk away.

  • Changes to the car

The 40-year exemptions need the car to be unchanged. A substantial change to the chassis, shell, axles or engine within the last 30 years counts against it.

  • London and the ULEZ

The ULEZ is judged on declared emissions, and a US import often has no Euro standard on its V5C. Vehicles built before 1 January 1973 are exempt, so the build date matters here too.

Send us the listing before you commit. The title, condition and specification help us give you a useful quote.

Common questions

What details matter before buying a Charger?

Check the VIN against the original title, confirm the build date and ask about modifications. We import clean-title vehicles only.

Can modifications affect an older Charger?

Yes. Substantial changes to the chassis, body, axles or engine can affect historic exemptions. Keep records of the work and discuss it before shipping.

Could an older Charger qualify for historic relief?

It may, but the build date alone does not settle it. HMRC considers the vehicle's age and original state, so ask about a ruling before shipping rather than assuming relief.
